Personnel Recruiter

Overview: Personnel recruiters define the organization's projected and actual job openings in terms of employee qualifications. They design recruitment methods to locate and attract applicants capable of filling the vacancies. Perform initial screening of applicants. Evaluate the cost effectiveness of the recruitment methods.
Duties: Personnel recruiters analyze the organization's strategic plans and current job openings to forecast number of new employees needed, qualification demands in terms of skills, knowledge and abilities & dates needed.

They identify sources of applicants and methods to attract them. They analyze applicants qualifications from application forms, educational records and work experience history.

Personnel recruiters implement the recruitment plans and perform initial screening of applicants by reviewing their resumes, by interview and by test administration.

They conduct statistical analysis to evaluate cost-effectiveness of different recruitment methods and to verify compliance with equal opportunity guidelines.

Education Level: Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.
Additional Training/Education: Personnel recruiters generally require a bachelor's or often a master's degree in either human resource management, industrial relations, business or psychology. Actually, a mix of courses from all these study areas is essential. Additional courses in computer applications and statistics are becoming increasingly important.
