Traffic Administrator (Freight & Passenger)
Overview: | Traffic administrators manage the rates charged by transportation companies for transporting passengers or freight. They determine the rates and tariffs based on statistical analysis of the cost of equipment, fuel, operations and labor. They set prices based on competition and profit. |

Duties: | They decide upon company freight and passenger classes, rates and fares charged for the purpose of enhancing revenues and profits. Monitor company operations to determine when changes are needed. They decide upon accounting procedures needed to describe and summarize expenses such as equipment purchase and maintenance, fuel and labor, as well as the revenues earned and due. They testify before government regulatory agencies to present company's position and to justify the tariffs charged customers and the routes serviced. Consult and negotiate with executives from other transportation companies to arrange for agreements to transfer passengers or freight from one company's vehicle to the other. |
