About the Lifelong Learners Program

Queensborough Community College is pleased to offer as part of our Personal Enrichment Program, Lifelong Learning Courses. This program offers the opportunity for individuals age 60 and above to attend undergraduate college courses at QCC in an audit capacity. Personal Enrichment students may enroll, on a space available basis, for approved undergraduate level courses at the College. Nursing program courses are not offered in this program.

Come on board and engage with others who share your desire for intellectual growth, learning new skills, and exploring new perspectives. Topics range from the arts, humanities, and history to current affairs.

You will also be learning alongside other students who are much younger than you. Participation allows you to meet new people, experience our community, expand and share your knowledge.

Admissions Criteria

In order to be admitted as a lifelong learner student, the following criteria must be met:

  • New York State Address
  • 60 years of age or older as of the first day of classes.

Fees

  • $65 Senior fee per session/semester due at the time of registration
  • $15 consolidated fee per semester due at the time of registration
  • Auditors are also responsible for the cost of any course materials, such as textbooks.

How to Apply

  • Students who register for this option do not receive college credit or grades. Assessment is given on a pass/fail basis.

  • You must be a New York State Resident

  • Because non-credit spaces are limited in these credit courses, early registration is advised.

  • Courses that have reached the maximum ratio, class size limit, or have enrollment restrictions are not open to Personal Enrichment students.

  • Personal Enrichment students are only permitted to attend courses they are enrolled in for the current semester. They may not attend class prior to being enrolled.

  • Students will only be eligible to register for one course to ensure that we can accommodate the requests of as many students as possible. Please list your course choices on the form in order of preference.

If the course(s) a student has selected are no longer available at the time their form is processed, the student will be contacted by a Continuing Education & Workforce Development representative by email. The student may amend their registration by email until 4 pm on the drop/add day.

If you need assistance with applying, course information or any specific questions about the program please contact the Continuing Education & Workforce Development office at (718) 631-6343 Monday — Friday, 9 am — 5 pm, or email us at QCCcontinuingEd@qcc.cuny.edu. After acceptance into the Personal Enrichment Program and registration into a course, you will need to apply and pay for your parking permit and get your TigerCard ID.
