UN Representatives from the Department of Art & Design for the Women's Caucus for Art

For the past three years, the International Caucus of the Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) has offered students from the Department of Art & Design an opportunity to serve as UN NGO Representatives. Maureen Burns-Bowie, Director of the QCC/WCA/UN Program, keeps students apprised of weekly NGO Briefings and other special UN opportunities and events

This year, students attended panel presentations by scholars and experts on a wide range of topics, including “Youth Partnerships and the Sustainable Development Goals: Empowerment of Women and Girls,” “The Role of Women in United Nations Peacekeeping: Lessons Learned and Experiences from Women Peacekeepers Serving in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations,” and “Creating Cultures of Peace: Art, Music and Peace Museums.” The 2016-17 representatives from the Department of Art and Design are Kaitlyn Cicciariello, Armando Vakufac, and Alisa Leavy.
Applications for this exciting educational opportunity are accepted every year and are due on November 1. If you are interested in applying, please look for postings on the Department of Art and Design’s bulletin board in the fall or send an email to Professor Liz Di Giorgio at EDigiorgio@qcc.cuny.edu. This opportunity is available to all studio and art history majors in the Department of Art and Design. Students of all genders are encouraged to apply.
