Duties
Working Conditions/Physical Effort: Will work outdoors 10 hours per day (4 days per week) in variable weather conditions, at times in remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances, in isolated settings. Will be working on an active military base. Cellular service may not always be present. |

The New York Natural Heritage Program is hiring eight field technicians to conduct invasive plant surveys at the Fort Drum Military Installation. Start date of the project will be mid-May, 2022. Positions could be filled by college students or professionals with relevant experience. Student positions will end at the beginning of the academic year; non-student positions may be extended into September. Work will occur Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Weekend or holiday work may be required to access certain areas of the base. The New York Natural Heritage Program (NYNHP) is a program of the Research Foundation for the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY- ESF) whose mission is to facilitate the conservation of New York’s biodiversity by providing comprehensive information and scientific expertise on rare species and natural ecosystems. NYNHP works in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and other state, federal and private organizations involved in natural resource management, land protection and stewardship, and advancing the conservation of biodiversity.
