Campaign Internship with Layla Law-Gisiko

Layla Law-Gisiko | New York | Part-time | Salary: College Credit


Students with democratic values who are interested in fighting for a better State and District and learning how to win a campaign for State Assembly are invited to apply to Layla Law-Gisiko’s campaign.

Applicants should be committed to electing a progressive leader as Assembly Member for the 75th District. Tasks may include but will not be limited to:

  • Voter Outreach - connecting with voters by phone, door, mail, online, and wherever possible to tell them about our campaign and to ask for their vote. We will mostly be phone banking and canvassing in person to get out the vote.
  • Exposure - building a knowledgeable foundation of political campaigns and the behind-the-scenes work of a political election.
  • Organizing - organizing residents and communities around common interests as well as planning and executing events.
  • Fundraising - building lists to ensure the campaign has accurate data and learning the fundraising database system.
  • Events - attending events for the campaign and being active in the community.


Interns who excel in their responsibilities will have the opportunity to assist with:

  • Management - coordinating teams of interns and volunteers to ensure the successful completion of daily tasks.
  • Organization - working with the Field Director to achieve daily and weekly voter engagement goals.
  • Apprenticeship - hands-on training in the inner-workings of campaign management, with the ultimate goal of serving as Regional Field Organizers or Deputy Field Directors.


The internship is unpaid though the campaign will work with applicants to secure academic credit. A minimum of 15 hours per week is required with a preference for applicants who can commit more hours as we approach the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, June 28nd, 2022.
