First Year Experience Peer Mentor - NUMEROUS POSITIONS

Description (Job Duties)

FYE (First Year Experience) is hiring peer mentors for the Fall 2022 semester. Mentors will assist in guiding students through the course and become an important resource as new students acclimate to QCC.

This is a perfect opportunity for students who are looking for a part time job and would like to gain professional experience and knowledge.

General information: 

  • Approximately 5 hours a week
  • Compensation is $15.00 an hour
  • Paid training is required
  • Optional work opportunities will be available over the summer
Special Skills & Requirements


  • Completed at least one semester at QCC
  • Registered for the Fall 2022 semester 
  • Be in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.5) 
  • Be available 1 day of training in August (TBD)
  • Be available for six 1-hour training sessions during the semester (to be held during club hours)
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States


  • Attend all ongoing training sessions (during club hours) 
  • Plan a first day speech to introduce yourself to students and explain your role 
  • Be present for all FYE class meetings during the duration of the entire semester 
  • Check in with individual students for 1-on-1 scheduled meetings 
  • Ability to execute assigned project tasks within established schedule
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Be a resource for the FYE students
