STEP (Science and Technology Entry Program)

STEP (Science and Technology Entry Program) is a pre-collegiate program, successfully running at QCC (Queensborough Community College, Bayside NY) since 2006. The program, which is funded by the New York State Department of Education, seeks to strengthen students' skills in science and math and motivate them to enroll in college and pursue careers in science, technology, and the licensed professions. STEP is offered to students in grades 7-12 who are either underrepresented minorities and/or economically disadvantaged.

Liberty Partnerships Program

The Queensborough Liberty Partnerships Program is one of 47 Liberty Partnerships Programs across New York State and one of 18 Liberty Partnerships Programs in the New York City metropolitan area. All partnerships are between colleges and universities and middle and high schools.

Project PRIZE provides comprehensive services to students, including: Academic Support. Counseling, College Preparation, Workforce Preparation, Parent Engagement, Recreational and Cultural Enrichment.

Career Exploration & Educational Services Supporting Advancement in Education & Beyond

R.I.S.E. is an inclusive free program with Career and Technical Education Specialists providing unlimited one-on-one meetings to help guide credit and non-credit students with their academic and career journey. Students will create a strategic set of individualized goals that will decrease the barriers they face while boosting the skills needed to increase employment opportunities and job retention.

Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Training Program

Funded by the  New York State's Workforce Development Initiative Fund for the Queensborough's Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) program, we offer a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Training Program to qualified students, which consists of over 90 hours of training, including a non-credit CRPA Certification Workshop and a three-credit Addictions and Dependencies course.

Free Online Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing & Security

QCC's Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing enables participants to earn up to six AWS Certifications, including the AWS Cloud Computing Fundamentals, the AWS Solutions Architect Certification, the AWS Developer Associate Certification, the AWS SysOps Administrator Associate Certification, the AWS Specialization in Big Data and the AWS Specialization in Machine Learning Certifications.

Topics to be covered:

  • What the AWS Cloud is and its basic global infrastructure

Free Online Google UX/UI Design Professional Certificate

The primary objective of this online Google Certificate UX/UI course is to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for crafting effective and user-friendly digital products and interfaces. The course encompasses fundamental aspects of UX/UI design, including Google design principles and tools, designing for both web and mobile platforms, prototyping and testing, as well as fostering career development in the field of UX/UI design.

Expand your Technology work opportunities through the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate Program, which can be completed in as little as 5 weeks, depending upon the students’ available time. The five-course program teaches skills needed to start a career in IT support, one of the fastest growing careers in the U.S., with a median salary of $53,470. Free Online Software Engineering Micro-Credential Career Track in Web Development (Boot Camp)

QCC’s Software Engineering Micro-Credential Career Track in Web Development is designed to
provide learners passionate for a career in Software Engineering to quickly develop highly in-demand web development skills, including programming languages, tools, and technologies to succeed in front-end and back-end development, as well as full-stack development. This intensive Boot Camp will immerse learners in a 100-hour online development environment over an intensive five-week time frame
and is led by Software Engineering Industry experts and Instructors. 

Training Qualifications:

The boot camp focuses on the skills needed to build, maintain, and administrate static and dynamic websites. At the beginning of the courses, students will learn how to construct and test code in different interfaces such as HTML-HTML5, CSS-CSS3, and JavaScript. After that, the course will teach students how to explore different libraries and frameworks, customize existing routines or procedures in their code, and leverage code from past projects to develop code for a new one. Students will also be introduced to back-end programming and database concepts. 
At the end, students will demonstrate their coding skills by translating design requirements and instructions into a responsive implementation using different interfaces and frameworks.

Learning Outcomes:

  • At the end of the training course, students shall be able to:
  • Have completed a personal portfolio and a group project that spans the entirety of full stack application. 
  • Have a complete programming skill set to succeed in a web development role.
  • Be eligible to apply for both internships and employment opportunities.
  • Build and test code using text editor, and translate design instruction into code.
  • Translate design direction into a responsive implementation using different web development techniques.
  • Collect and use existing routines or procedures and integrate them into their code.
  • Customize frameworks, like a blueprint or a template, for their application.
  • Display ingenuity and initiative to resolve difficulties while working on individual or team projects.
  • Deliver tasks on time and match quality requirements.
  • Carry his/her share of the team’s load work with people with a variety of ideas and participate in a team culture.
  • Communicate with instructors and colleagues on the application and development of projects.

Free Online Advanced Software Engineering Micro-Credential Career Track full stack application developmentĀ 

QCC’s Software Engineering Micro-Credential Career Track full stack application development is designed to provide learners passionate to build a career in Software Engineering with emphasis in application development. This intensive Boot Camp will immerse learners in a 100-hour online development environment over an intensive six and half-week time frame and is led by Software Engineering Industry experts and Instructors. 

This micro-credential career track introduces fundamental programming concepts including web technology, data structures and databases, and application designs.  To succeed in this micro-credential bootcamp, students should be familiar with the basic concepts of front-end development or have been completed a micro-credential training in web development.

Course Prerequisites:

Since this Micro-credential is an intense computer programming and database training course, before the student enrolls in this Micro-credential training, the student must have basic knowledge of web technology and basic programming concepts.

Learning Outcomes:

  • At the end of the
    training course, student shall be able to:
  • Utilize cloud technologies concepts to build a functional application.
  • Create basic application using programming language.
  • Use database commands to filter, sort, and summarize data; manipulate strings, dates, and
    numerical data from different sources for analysis.
  • Assess and create datasets to solve app functionality questions and problems.
  • Develop a project proposal and select data, perform statistical analysis, develop metrics, and
    present an app prototype finding and make recommendations.
