The Academic Senate Committee on Admissions met on September 17, 2021 Virtually

The meeting was called to order at 4 p.m.
Business

Discussion among committee members:
Minutes from the previous meeting was approved unanimously.
Last years final report was submitted by the Chair of the Committee, it was noted that Application for re-admission and enrollment was down, this could be related to the effects of the pandemic.

New Member:
Dr. Charissa, English Department introduced to the group, she was duly welcomed by all members.

Proposed new name for committee:
The Academic Senate recently reviewed our request for name change. The main concern expressed by the senators was “the act of changing the committee's name to reflect Bylaws Charges 2 and 3 (dealing with re-admissions charges).” Dr. Scott Litroff, Chairman of the Bylaws Committee, suggested if the motion is brought to a vote, it would not pass. The Senators suggested a compromise to adopt the name “The Committee on Admissions and Re-Admissions” or to maintain the current name “The Committee on Admissions.” The suggestions were sent back to the committee and they unanimously decided to keep the current name “The Committee on Admissions.”
