What we do
The Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement tells the story of Queensborough on various platforms, promotes our achievements, fosters meaningful connections, cultivates partnerships, manages our digital footprint, and advances the College’s mission and strategic plan.
Requesting Services from Strategic Initiatives and Advancement
The Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement is pleased to announce the launch of a unified request form. Use the "Submit a Request" button to request services from the Communications, Marketing, and Strategic Initiatvies and Digital Transformation teams.
Communications and Public Relations
Communicating your great news is easy. We look forward to working with you!
The Communications team is ready to implement creative strategies to highlight your accomplishments for key audiences using various platforms for the most effective, positive outreach, including print and digital publications, the website, social media, and local and national news. This team also manages the College’s weekly e-newsletter, In the Know.
Communications serves as the College’s primary liaison with the media and is responsible for disseminating public information; facilitating interviews with students, faculty, and staff; seeking positive coverage of Queensborough’s people, programs, and activities; providing media training; and responding to requests from and providing statements for journalists.
Additionally, the area manages the visual record of college events and houses the database of content that is a vital component of Queensborough’s marketing strategy. Once events are photographed or recorded, images can be used in print and digital outlets and video can be shared online.
For Communications support, including videography, please submit a request form.

Marketing
Our marketing team develops and executes print and digital marketing strategies and related collateral for the College. Additionally, this team works alongside the Communications team to manage the College’s external messages.
Allowing our marketing team to create your content ensures your final project has the appropriate artwork, branding, and identity standards. Content created outside this division, that does not meet branding and identity standards cannot be shared by this division.

Social Media
Social media is a critical component of Queensborough's marketing and communications strategy. These emergent interactive platforms directly promote college messaging to a wide variety of constituents including current and prospective students; parents; faculty and staff; and alumni.
The Marketing team is the curator and editor of Queensborough's official social media channels. Our office sources content and crafts appropriate messaging for these channels that is timely, compelling, relevant and consistent. The Queensborough social media portfolio includes:
If a faculty or staff member of the college community wants to disseminate content through social media, they are encouraged to submit their content directly to the Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement for consideration. We ask that you not create additional social media accounts for the College. Using the College’s social media channels to share your information ensures the tone and messaging are consistent with the College’s branding and puts your content in front of more eyes.
Social media posts are, by their nature, brief and to the point. If your request is associated with a department/office event or activity, before submitting your request, your department must post its information about the event/activity on the main events calendar of the website. Please see the Queensborough Events Calendar for more information.
Please note: The Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement reserves the right to edit, substitute, or omit any content for optimal display and to determine all aspects of posting, including social media outlets and scheduling.

Electronic Communications
Digital Signage
Queensborough's digital signage is a network of large-screen monitors placed strategically across the various buildings on campus. These displays feature a constant rotation of content pushed to on-campus constituents. It is an ideal way for faculty and staff to get the word out to the community regarding departmental and college-wide announcements, events, and activities.
Important: If your request is associated with a department/office event or activity, it is important that your department post its information about the event/activity on the main events calendar of the website. Please see the Queensborough Events Calendar for more information.
Queensborough Events Calendar
The events calendar is the central online hub to learn more about what is happening on campus. When your department wishes to promote an event or activity, please submit your event to the main college events calendar.
Important: When submitting events to the calendar, be sure to enter complete information for the "Event Description" and "Detailed Event Description" fields. This information will provide context and understanding about your event for visitors to the website. We suggest one to two paragraphs for the detailed event description.
Posting to the events calendar has great benefits. They include:
- Increased Coverage and Visibility: The event will be displayed prominently in the calendar and has the possibility of appearing on the main home page and mobile app.
- Increased Attendance: Increased visibility raises the awareness of and the publicity for your event.
- Increased Marketing for the College: A full calendar brimming with a rich offering of academic, cultural, and student events shows prospective students and their parents what we have to offer.
- Consideration for posting to social media/digital signage: The Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement reviews postings to the calendar, and, at its discretion, may choose to feature events on social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn) digital signage, or the campus e-newsletter.
- In addition, posting to the calendar ensures a professional look and feel as your information will conform to the established Queensborough uniform branding and visual identity.
Publications
Traditional print media are an integral part of Queensborough's marketing efforts. The Strategic Initiatives and Digital Transformation team designs and oversees the production of all printed marketing materials for the academic departments, academic enhancement programs, administrative divisions, and other printed materials (stationery, forms, etc.) for administrative offices. We also maintain college branding and design standards and provide visual materials and digital copies of publications to the Marketing team.
Typical projects may include (but are not limited to): brochures, instructional booklets, catalogs, invitations, posters, reports, logos, and premiums (designs for t-shirts, banners, pens, etc.).
There is no charge for publication services; however, there may be for printing and/or mailing. Printing Services charges for oversize and some color printing. Please refer to Printing Services for details. Departments must pay outside vendor fees.
Allowing our team to create your content ensures your final project has the appropriate artwork, branding, and identity standards. Content created outside this division, that does not meet branding and identity standards cannot be shared by this division.
To get started on a project, please submit a request form.
Please note: The Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement reserves the right to edit, substitute, or omit any content for optimal display and to determine all aspects of posting.

Branding and Logos
To encourage consistency in presentations of the College's graphic identity, we have developed the QCC Brand Book to guide our graphic appearance. The book provides rules and production standards for incorporating our brand into various projects, for its best reproduction.
We also provide College-approved digital art files of our primary logo, seal, and other campaign graphics for both print (vector 4c eps) and Web (72 dpi rgb jpegs) use. If other formats are needed, please contact WebServices@qcc.cuny.edu.
