Hernan Duran always knew he wanted a career in law enforcement. In pursuit of his goal he enrolled at QCC. Hernan knew that he had to pay for college himself so to help fund his education, he started his own construction business, using his talents, drive and determination to succeed.

While at QCC Hernan participated in the NYPD Partners in Education Program working in the highway safety office at the 111 Precinct. He was so excited to finally get a preview for the career he is working towards. Hernan recommends the NYPD Partners In Education Program for anyone interested in the field. He received valuable on the job experiences that will be essential to his future career. Hernan was lucky to actually ride in a squad car and catch some civilians breaking the speed limit.

By registering for a Cooperative Education class and fulfilling the necessary requirements, Hernan earned three college credits toward his Associate degree after completing the internship. Hernan credits Dr. Tricario and Ms. Grossman for helping him obtain his internship which was a valuable part of his education. In addition, Hernan has been volunteering with the Career Services team for the last three years. Hernan has assisted with job fairs and internship forums and realizes the importance of making valuable networking connections wherever and whenever you can.

Hernan graduated in the Spring of 2016 and will be waiting for his number to be called from the NYPD Class list.
