Course Description in college catalog:

A continuation of the sight singing and ear training component of MUS-121 and MUS-112. Sight singing and dictation of more expansive diatonic melodies in multiple clefs and more extensive simple and compound rhythms.

Course-specific student learning outcomes:

1. Sing and play accurately major and minor scales, descending and ascending, in all keys.

2. Sing and play accurately arpeggiations of I and V chords.

3. Accurately sing, aurally identify, and notate rhythms from whole notes and whole rests through sixteenth notes and sixteenth rests.

4. Accurately sing, aurally identify, and notate ascending intervals from DO found in all major and minor scales.

5. Accurately sing, aurally identify, and notate diatonic melodies in all keys, in simple and compound meters.

Prepare students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning to pursue a career in music by providing a solid foundation in the areas of musicianship and performance.
