BNY Mellon Scholarship

award money Award: Up to $1,500 per semester

Award to cover tuition, fees, and books after all financial aid has been applied. This two-year scholarship is renewable annually, subject to availability.


Eligibility Criteria:

This scholarship is intended for CUNY ASAP graduates pursuing their bachelor’s degree at a CUNY senior college in a STEM or Business field. To be considered you must:

  • Be a successful graduate of CUNY ASAP by a specified date (see website).
  • Matriculate at a CUNY senior college in an eligible STEM or Business major. Click here to view a list of eligible majors.
  • Aim to enroll full time with 15 credits each semester or 30 credits per year, including winter and summer sessions.
  • Be in good academic and social standing (have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher)
  • Submit the FAFSA and NYS TAP application each year and receive Pell and/or New York TAP awards.***
  • Attend occasional scholarship-focused events.

***You can apply if you are eligible to apply for the New York State Dream Act.

Selection Criteria:

Your application will be reviewed by the BNY Mellon Application Review Team. Information disclosed on your application, including your identity, will be kept confidential.

Application Materials/Process:

As part of the application, you must provide:
  • Accurate and updated academic and financial aid related information
  • A personal statement (up to 150 words) addressing the question below:
    • What led you to choose your major, and how do you think it applies to your career goals?
  • Accurate email and telephone information for your recommender. Your professor, ASAP advisor, or ASAP Director can serve as your recommender.
  • After applying, you will receive an email stating that your application was received and will be reviewed.
  • The link to the Online Recommendation Form will be emailed directly to the recommender once the application is submitted.

Notes:
  1. If you would like to know if your recommendation was submitted by your professor, ASAP advisor, or ASAP Director, please send an email to ASAPScholarships@cuny.edu.
  2. Your application is incomplete until you submit your personal statement and your recommender submits the Online Recommendation Form.
  3. Once your application is complete, you will receive a notification of acceptance/rejection within 4-8 weeks. If you are accepted, you must complete and submit the BNY Mellon Acknowledgement Form.

Additional Benefits:

  • Receive an exclusive invite to participate in the BNY Mellon S.T.A.R.T.U.P mentoring program.
  • Participants who successfully complete S.T.A.R.T.U.P will be eligible to apply for the BNY Mellon Future Talent Program (FTP). FTP is a paid, full-time summer internship at BNY Mellon.
