Social Media
Social media is a critical component of Queensborough's marketing and communications strategy. These emergent interactive platforms directly promote college messaging to a wide variety of constituents including current and prospective students; parents; faculty and staff; and alumni.
The Digital Media Services team is the curator and editor of Queensborough's official social media channels. Our office sources content and crafts appropriate messaging for these channels that is timely, compelling, relevant and consistent. The Queensborough social media portfolio includes:
If a faculty or staff member of the college community seeks to disseminate content through social media, they are encouraged to submit their content directly to the Office of Marketing and Communications for consideration. We request that you do not create additional social media accounts on behalf of the college.
The benefits of using official college social media channels to communicate information are threefold:
- Increased value and credibility for your content, as it is displayed on the main college-approved channels
- Increased coverage for your content
- Editorial oversight to ensure voice, tone and visual messaging that is consistent with college branding
Please direct social media inquiries to Marketing and Communication.
Social media posts are, by their nature, brief and to the point. If your request is associated with a department/office event or activity, before submitting your request, it is important that your department post its own information about the event/activity on the main events calendar of the website. Please see the Queensborough Events Calendar for more information.
Please note: The Office of Marketing and Communications reserves the right to edit, substitute or omit any content for optimal display and to determine all aspects of posting, including social media outlet and scheduling.
Electronic Communications
Digital Signage
Queensborough's digital signage is a network of large-screen monitors placed strategically across the various buildings on campus. These displays feature a constant rotation of content pushed to on-campus constituents. It is an ideal way for faculty and staff to get the word out to the community regarding departmental and college-wide announcements, events and activities.
We are actively soliciting material for display. Please use the digital signage form to submit your material for consideration. Once submitted, our staff will determine if the content is appropriate for digital signage or if another venue would be optimal for display of your material. We will work with you to make any needed edits.
Important: If your request is associated with a department/office event or activity, it is important that your department post its own information about the event/activity on the main events calendar of the website. Please see the Queensborough Events Calendar for more information.
Please note: The Office of Marketing and Communications reserves the right to edit, substitute or omit any content for optimal display and to determine all aspects of posting, including visual presentation and scheduling. Messages appearing to digital signage will display on most campus monitors.

Queensborough Events Calendar
The events calendar is the central online hub for the college that details all of the vibrant happenings on campus. When your department wishes to promote an event or activity, please submit your event to the main college events calendar.
Important: When submitting events to the calendar, be sure to enter complete information for the "Event Description" and "Detailed Event Description" fields. This information will provide context and understanding about your event for visitors to the website. We suggest one to two paragraphs for the detailed event description.
Posting to the events calendar has great benefits. They include:
- Increased Coverage and Visibility
The event will be displayed prominently in the calendar and also has the possibility of appearing on the main home page and mobile app. - Increased Attendance
As the coverage and visibility of your event increases, it can only help to increase attendance and publicity for your event. - Increased Marketing for the College
It is a great benefit for the college to have a calendar brimming with content that displays a rich offering of academic, cultural and student events. - Consideration for posting to social media/digital signage
The staff of the Office of Marketing and Communications reviews postings to the calendar, and, at its discretion, may choose to feature events on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) or digital signage.
In addition, posting to the calendar ensures a professional look and feel as your information will conform to the established Queensborough uniform branding and visual identity.
