How does Queensborough Community College fit the profile to receive this funding?

The Office of Postsecondary Access, Support and Success of the State Education Department receives Perkins V federal funding for career and technical programs. These funds are allocated to the State's community colleges and Educational Opportunity Centers based on the number of economically disadvantaged career and technical education students enrolled in each institution.

Queensborough Community College is the recipient of funding from the New York State Education Department to support enhance the CTE program offerings through the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V). The purpose of the Act can be reviewed in detail online.

Perkins V funds are used by eligible institutions to supplement their career and technical education programs. This may include funding professional and support staff, and purchasing equipment, supplies and materials.

Each year, QCC prepares an application which describes how the funds will be utilized based on the results of the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment. QCC must also show ongoing compliance with all Federal and State Guidelines by submission of Interim and Final reports, and data demonstrating the progress of the project's adherence to the Core Indicators of Performance along with demographic and special population data.
