Outside the Classroom

The Engineering Technology students can choose from a wide range of student clubs on campus that focus their interest in on the sciences and engineering. These include

Architecture Club – The Architecture club meets every Wed in MC 146. It shows videos on architectural topics and designs and hosts guest speakers from industry. The club also takes field trips to Manhattan and other sites in the Tri-state area.  We have about 25 events per semester. The faculty advisor is Professor Craig Weber who is located in room T-9.

IEEE Club - The IEEE Club is for QCC students who enjoy getting involved in projects, activities and student government. The club members will have the opportunity to work on Electronic/Computer based projects of their choice. They will be involved in bringing special speakers to the College and going on field trips. Members also could join QCC student government. To join the club, please contact Professor. Hamid Namdar at his office in the Technology Building, Room T-20, 718 – 281 - 5250; e-mail hnamdar@qcc.cuny.edu

ET Programming Club - Meets Wednesday during Clubs 1-3PM in room T-24.

Mechanical Engineering Technology Club - To support and encourage students interested in careers in mechanical engineering, discuss latest mechanical engineering technology and participate in student competitions. For additional information please contact Dr. Kee Park (kpark@qcc.cuny.edu) in room T-17.

Robotics Club - The members of the robotics club work diligently to pool their ideas and opinions towards the study and construction of robots. While we are very fascinated with discussions, projects and events, we, the members, still recognize other clubs on Campus. We have co-sponsored several events and socialized during club meetings.

p>The Club plans to pursue the objective of designing and producing a multifunction robot. We have and ordered a number of different robotic kits for our club members to learn from and assemble for this objective.

It is our desire to compete with other Colleges in Robotics Fairs. Since the Technology Faculty has embraced us with support and absolute confidence, the Robotics Club does predict many fruitful days ahead at Queensborough Community College. The Club would also like to thank the Student Government for its support. For further information concerning the Robotics Club you can contact Professor John Buoncora in the ECET Department, e-mail jbuoncora@qcc.cuny.edu
