The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs met on October 26, 2022 at 12:00PM - RFK 207 and Virtual - Zoom

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:00PM

INFORMATIONAL MEETING NOTES ONLY - NO QUORUM
  1. Attendance
  2. Minutes from previous meeting were not approved- no quorum.
  3. Our next professional development workshop for faculty is set for 11/2: “Getting Started with Mindset GPS at QCC” led by Kevin Kolack and Beth Counihan.
  4. We continued to work on developing the annual survey for faculty. We will resend the draft of the survey to the rest of the committee by email this week and ask that committee members submit any final suggestions or changes by 11/4/2022.
  5. Continued discussion of student evaluations of faculty:

    1. How to get to students to complete them – flyer with QR code distributed physically and digitally.

    2. Faculty should explain to students why evaluations matter to the faculty’s professional development – make this a student-centered activity where their feedback is valuable and important

    3. Some faculty are not receiving their student evaluations from their department/P&B – why?

  6. Over the past year, the Committee has:

    1. Created new teaching evaluation form for online courses;
    2. Organized and facilitated an eLearning workshop series for faculty new to teaching online during COVID-19; and
    3. Co-sponsored and co-organized two semester-long SOTL pedagogy series (run together with CETL) in which 31 faculty participated to learn how to publish their own pedagogical projects.
