The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Admissions met on 02/25/2022, 4:30pm, Virtually


Committee Members in Attendance:

Dr. MD Shahadat Hossain – Engineering Department 

Katwicia Desruisseaux - College Discovery 

Dr. Jason Demas - Health, Physical Education & Dance

Dr. Sarbani Ghoshal - Biology Sciences & Geology

Dr. Charissa Che, English Department

Carmen Reid – Nursing


Liaisons in Attendance:

Jankee Guzman – Office of Admissions


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 4:30pm

Discussion among committee members:

i. Minutes from the previous meeting was approved unanimously.

ii. Applications for re instatement has increase, but not yet reached pre pandemic level.

iii. Academic Senate might revisit request for name change in the future.

iv. GPA audit gives minimal information of the students’ course work. Additional documentations can be requested if needed.

v. In the future it might be possible that the committee will be able to vote on all policies pertaining to admission.

vi. Previous minutes amended to indicate the correct spelling of Dr. Charissa Che’s name.

vii. Committee members can recommend that students switch to another major if their GPA and course standing does not meet the requirement for the present major.

viii. Appeals for Reinstatement

      a. The members of the committee reviewed:

         (33) Degree student records

         (0) non-degree student records

         (0) NP-AAS/NS-AAS student records

          A total of (33) Student records

DEGREE

(28) Students approved for re-admission with conditions for the Fall semester.

(05) Students denied re-admissions for the Spring semester.

(0) Students applications deferred based on CCS Committee’s decision.

(0)   Students applications held for more documentation.

(0)   Students applications referred to graduation audit.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 pm.
