Business:

The meeting was called to order at 3:15pm

Focus of the end of semester meeting is about coming up with ideas for concrete ways of involving the cultural centers. Tangible things committee members can do.

Laura Cohen (KHC):

  • Currently working with faculty members to developing student assignments for Spring 2021 semester
  • KHC did not run any tours in the fall - want to do virtual tours for faculty and students in spring 2021
  • The plan is to make 7 tours each with its own docent
  • This is also a way to continue to engage documents, who are the KHC’s connection to the community
  • However, staffing is an issue: in Spring the KHC is just Laura and one part time person
  • The first tour would be a welcome tour - 1 hours worth of content (not a PowerPoint!), filled with engaging content
  • The committee could provide feedback in January on this first tour, so there could be a course correction to improve the experience for the yet to be produced tours
  • Internships engage students: Gallery and Museum Studies program is a natural fit for  internships, but how might KHC be involved with other departments?

Susan Agin (QPAC):

  • Programming is a leading source of Diversity Equity and Inclusion on campus
  • Upcoming events are live streaming and are fundraisers for QCC fund,
    • Drag Out The Holly (featuring top drag artists) Dec 19. QCC fund gets half of proceeds (donation based)
    • Soul to Soul for MLK day January 18: concerning the co-development of African American / Jewish musical cultures

Next meeting: Scheduling in advance so we can post on the website. Adam will send out a Doodle in January. Tuesdays do not work for some committee members.

  • How do we Incentivize faculty to make the leap to collaborate with the campus cultural centers? Bringing on CELT and aligning with HIPS more directly.
  • Meg from CELT is coming to the next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 3:44pm

Respectfully submitted,

Nathaniel Sullivan
Committee on Senate Committee on Cultural and Archival Resources, Secretary
