The Academic Senate Committee on Continuing Education & Workforce Development Committee met on November, 29, at 12 noon in Room: A-403

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM

November 29th, 2023, Minutes, Time:  12-1 PM, Room: A-403

 

  1. Review of Minutes from October 4th Meeting: During the CEWD session, members engaged in a thorough discussion and proposed several amendments to the minutes. Following the constructive suggestions, the revised minutes were subsequently approved.

 

  1. Attendance: Dean Ellen Hartigan, Deon Gibson, Jun Shin, Alison Cimino, Daniel Armstrong, Lori Conkling (Secretary), Rex Taibu (Chairperson), Jacqueline Montgomery, Ekaterina Manafeeva, and Elaine Loannou

 

  1. Welcome Remarks: Rex Taibu, the chairperson of the committee, delivered the opening remarks and extended a warm welcome to all attending members.

 

  1. Update on Review of CEWD Charges: Rex Taibu provided the committee with an update on the meeting he, Lori, and Jun attended with the bylaws committee regarding the review of the proposed charges for the CEWD committee. He expressed gratitude to the CEWD committee for their assistance via email in addressing the suggested changes by the bylaws committee. During the discussion, the committee reached a consensus to await further communication from the bylaws committee regarding the next steps for the review and subsequent approval of the proposed charges.

 

  1. Update on Credit-Bearing Course Offerings: Dean Ellen Hartigan facilitated the discussion on the topic. It was acknowledged that efforts are underway to refine the terminology surrounding CEWD programs and courses, particularly in relation to tuition-based programs and credit-bearing courses. The committee is actively working to ensure clarity and accuracy in describing these offerings.

 

  1. Webpage Updates: Dean Ellen Hartigan committed to advancing the revisions to the committee guide addendum, building upon the work initiated by Deon Gibson. Additionally, Rex Taibu informed the committee that the broken links on the CEWD Committee webpage have been successfully rectified.

 

  1. Adjournment at 1 PM
