The Academic Senate Committee on CURRICULUM COMMITTEE met on February 27, 2024 at 2:10 pm via Zoom


Committee Members in Attendance:

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM

1. The minutes of the January 30, 2024 meeting were approved by the committee.

 

2. The committee welcomed Aviva Geismar from the Health, Physical Education & Dance Department to discuss the following program revision:

 

    Program revision: Dance

 

The revision touched upon the inclusion of the following two courses towards the Modern Dance (DAN 223) and Ballet (DAN 233) degree requirements:

    DAN- 223 Intermediate Modern Dance IV

    DAN- 233 Intermediate Ballet IV

 

The revision was considered by all present, and it passed unanimously.

 

3. The committee welcomed José J. Osorio from the Foreign Languages & Literatures Department to discuss the following new course proposal:

 

    New course proposal: LS 411 Hispanic Avant-Garde in Art and Literature: Challenging Conventional Norms Program

 

The proposal was considered by all present, and it passed unanimously.

 

4. The committee welcomed Bjorn Berkhout from the Music Department to discuss the following course revisions:

 

    Course revision: MUS- 102 The European Classical Music Tradition

    Course revision: re-numbering of MUS 186, 187, 286, 287 to MUS 141, 142, 143, 144

 

The proposed course revisions were considered by all present, and it passed unanimously.

 

5. The committee welcomed Sharon Lall-Ramnarine and Sasan Karimi from the Chemistry Department and Raul Armendariz and Rex Taibu from the Physics department to discuss the following items:

 

    Program revision: L.S.- A.S. Degree

    New course proposal: RAD-101 Radiation Safety I

    New course proposal: RAD-102 Radiation Safety II

 

The proposals were considered by all present, and it passed unanimously.

 

6. The committee chair asked the committee to remind department chairs that all new proposals should be sent to the committee by April 9th the latest.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 3:10 PM.
