The Academic Senate Committee on CURRICULUM COMMITTEE met on April 16, 2019 at 2:10 pm in H-239

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM

  1. The minutes of the March 26, 2019 meeting were approved by the committee. 
  1. The committee welcomed two new members, Florence Farrat from the Registrar, and Hemraj Benny Tirandai from the Chemistry Department. Their terms will begin in the Fall of 2019. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed program revision of the Dual-Joint A.S./B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice with John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed program revision of the Liberal Arts and Sciences A.A. Degree – Education Concentration. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present. 
  1. Mercedes Franco, Chair of the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science, presented proposals for the department. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed course revisions for:

    MA-010 ALP Elementary Algebra
    MA-010 Elementary Algebra
    MA-321 Mathematics in Contemporary Society
    MA-128 Calculus for Technical and Business Students
    MA-119 College Algebra
    MA-114 College Algebra and Trigonometry for Technical Students
    CS-100 Introduction to Computers and Programming

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present. 
  1. Jennifer Maloy, Chair of the English Department, presented proposals for the department. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed course revisions for:

    ENGL-102 English Composition II: Introduction to Literature
    ENGL-103 Writing for New Media
    ENGL-202 Readings in Poetry
    ENGL-203 Readings in Drama
    ENGL-204 Readings in Prose Fiction
    ENGL-211 English Literature I: Anglo-Saxon Period through the Eighteenth Century
    ENGL-212 English Literature II: Nineteenth Century to Present
    ENGL-213 World Literature I: Ancient through Renaissance
    ENGL-214 World Literature II: Masterpieces from the Eighteenth to the Twentieth Centuries
    ENGL-215 American Literature I: Colonial Period to American Renaissance
    ENGL-216 American Literature II: Civil War to Present
    ENGL-217 Contemporary Literature in English
    ENGL-311 Journalism II: Feature and Magazine Article Writing

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present. 

The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 PM.
