The Academic Senate Committee on CURRICULUM COMMITTEE met on April 30, 2019 at 2:10 pm in H-239


Committee Members in Attendance:

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM

  1. The minutes of the April 16, 2019 meeting were approved by the committee. 
  1. Mercedes Franco, Chair of the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science, presented proposals for the department. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed course revisions for:

    MA-301 Mathematics for the Liberal Arts
    MA-121 Elementary Trigonometry

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed course revisions for:

    ENGL-220 Introduction to Creative Writing
    ENGL-221 Creative Writing: Fiction
    ENGL-222 Creative Writing: Poetry
    ENGL-231/232 Special Topics in Writing Studies
    ENGL-241 Introduction to Journalism; Editing Principles and Practices
    ENGL-242 Documentary Film: The New Journalism
    ENGL-252 Film and Literature
    ENGL-262 New York
    ENGL-501 The Novel
    ENGL-502 Modern Drama
    ENGL-503 Shakespeare in Elizabethan Drama
    ENGL-504 The Bible as Literature
    ENGL-505 Children’s Literature
    ENGL-591,592 Special Topics in Literature

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present. 
  1. Urszula Golebiewska, from the Department of Biological Sciences and Geology, presented proposals for the department. 
  1. The committee considered the proposed new program of Associate in Science Degree in Biology. After discussing the proposal, the committee decided to vote after revisions were made by an email vote. In an email vote initiated after the meeting, the committee approved the revised proposal. 

The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 PM.
