The Academic Senate Committee on Curriculum met on May 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm online via Blackboard Collaborate

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM

  1. The minutes of the April 28, 2020 meeting were approved by the committee.

  2. The committee conducted elections for the next academic year. Dr. P. Wallach was elected as the Chair of the Committee and Dr. Murley was elected as the Secretary of the Committee for the academic year 2020-2021.

  3. The committee considered the course revision of PE-841: “Camp Leadership,” from the Health, Physical Education and Dance Department. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  4. The committee considered the following course revisions from the Health, Physical Education and Dance Department.

    HE-101 Introduction to Health Education
    HE-102 Health, Behavior and Society

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present.

  5. The committee discussed the program revision from the Biological Sciences and Geology Department for the Health Sciences A.S. program. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  6. There was a discussion of the new courses CS-102 Spreadsheet Programming with MS Excel and CS-103 Relational Databases with SQL, previously submitted by the Mathematics and Computer Science Department. Members of the Business Department and Mathematics and Computer Science Department presented their opposition and support of these courses.

  7. The committee considered the following course revisions from the Mathematics and Computer Science Department:

    CS-102 Spreadsheet Programming with MS Excel
    CS-103 Relational Databases with SQL

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted and the proposals were approved.

    The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 PM.
