1. Approve previous meeting minutes

2. Fall 2021 eLearning Committee News Letter

1. Tony Monahan has uploaded his article to Cascade. Committee members are encouraged to log onto the Cascade and read the article.

2. Punita’s interview with Kelvin Kalock:

   1) Punita has interviewed Kelvin, and the draft of the interview article has been shared within the committee;

   2) Committee members all agree that it is a very detailed interview and the feedbacks are very thoughtful;

   3) Committee members expressed some concerns about the content of the interview regarding the HyFlex teaching modality:

  • The interview only expresses one faculty’s point of view. It may not reflect all faculties’ opinions.

  • HyFlex modality is still very new to CUNY. The faculty training has not been completed and each campus is trying different things. At this exploratory phase, getting accurate feedbacks on this teaching modality may not be possible.

  • If possible, another interview with a different faculty member might be a good idea to provide another angle.

3. Spring 2022 eLearining Committee Newsletter Ideas

  • Susan suggested a follow-up with HyFlex teaching modality. We can interview the faculties who participate in the HyFlex courses.

  • Randelle suggested an interview with faculties who taught the “accidental HyFlex” or pilot HyFlex courses in fall 2021.

  • Fei suggested we need more data on HyFlex teaching from students’ point of view. The committee should develop a student survey regarding this matter.

  • Tony and his colleagues are about to publish the 2nd article about developing eLarning courses. He can also talk about this.

4. Fall 2021 Online Pedagogy Series (Brown Bag Workshops) Schedule

  • Thank you to Dr. Fei Ye for his December 1, 2021session on Markdown (ELC)!

  • The workshop on elearning modalities will be held on Dec. 8. Thank you to the ADC for coordinating with the eLearning Committee on assembling a list of panelists to discuss their experience teaching in asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid (PNT), and hyflex modes.

5. Tentative Springg 2022 Workshop Suggestions

  • We have Pullin’s session on Perusall (ADC) and Jody Resko’s session on office hours (ADC) workshops for spring 2022.

  • Hyflex II Panel workshop may need a more appropriate name.

  • Any workshop we can do regarding the academic integrity? Committee members will discuss this topic further in the next meeting.

6. Suggested goals from the Academic Senate Steering Committee

  • Committee members will discuss this topic further in the next meeting.

7. Adjournment
