Review/Approval of Minutes

Minutes from October 2018 meeting approved with minor corrections.

Report on preliminary research on STEAM labs

Angela Ridinger-Dotterman  is researching the possibility of STEAM labs at QCC. She has been in contact with Adelphi University and Baruch College, both of which already have STEAM labs or comparable facilities on their respective campuses. She plans on speaking to Zoe Saldana, a professor at Baruch, regarding their implementation there. Prof. Ridinger-Dotterman  then updated Prof.  Cheryl  Tokke on STEAM labs. It was suggested that the committee reach out to more CUNY campuses regarding this issue.

Bathroom Compliance

Agnieszka Tuszynska updated the committee on the ADA compliance of campus bathrooms. Thus far, B&G has not responded to her inquiries. A discussion ensued on how best to move forward. It was suggested that the committee either address the issue to the Academic Senate or send an email to William Faulkner and Sherry Newcombe, reminding them of the pressing legal nature of this issue. It was also suggested that asking student leaders to circulate a petition demanding ADA compliant bathrooms would expedite the process of approval and allocation of funds. The committee also agreed that an ADA rep should be invited to the next committee meeting to brief the committee on the technicalities of the issue.

Respectfully submitted,

Peter Mauro
Committee on Library Committee, Secretary
