Bureau of Sexually Transmitted Infections Announcement

The Bureau of Sexually Transmitted Infections (BSTI) is pleased to announce the reopening of the Jamaica Sexual Health Clinic! It will reopen Monday, July 27 with the following limited services:

  • HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
  • Emergency contraception
  • HIV treatment initiation for those diagnosed with HIV who would like to start HIV treatment for the first time
  • Urgent follow-up for patients contacted by clinic staff
  • HIV and STI testing (only available for teens and young adults 21 years old or younger)
  • Medical evaluation for signs and symptoms of STIs or HIV
  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs) and the implant (available by appointment only)

We are thrilled to bring these services back to Queens. To assure patient and staff safety, we will limit the waiting area to eight visitors at a time. Patients may experience longer than usual wait times. When the clinic is busy, priority will be given to patients coming for emergency services.

These services continue to be available at the Chelsea and Fort Greene Sexual Health Clinics. Telemedicine services are also available via the NYC Sexual Health Clinic Hotline at 347-396-7959. For more information, visit our webpage.

Safer Sex During COVID-19

Have you read the NYC Health Department’s famous memo on safer sex during COVID-19? Did you know that the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) and NASTAD also released new resources on sex and COVID-19 including a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document and two infographics?

The FAQ provides detailed information about how to reduce the risk of spreading or acquiring COVID-19 during sex.

Two infographics highlight different levels of risk for spreading the COVID-19 virus and how you can lower your potential risk of spreading or acquiring the virus with partners in the home and partners outside of the home.
