Students at QCC must take 62 credits, 60 credits towards the QCC A.S. in Health Sciences degree, Occupational Therapy Concentration, and an additional 2 credits of liberal arts courses for transfer into the Touro University Occupational Therapy Program. Total additional credits required at Touro University to complete baccalaureate and master's degree:  95 credits.

Students meeting the minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to the Occupational Therapy Program. The ultimate decision to accept or reject a QCC applicant rests solely and exclusively with Touro University and is not subject to appeal or review.

It is the responsibility of the incoming transfer student to check the current admission and degree requirements for the B.S. in Health Sciences and M.S. in Occupational Therapy at Touro University.  The student is required to follow the requirements in effect at the time of their entrance to Touro University even if they are different from what are found in this agreement.

QCC students applying to the Pathway:

  • must have completed at least 40-45 credits of undergraduate coursework
  • must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.0 Science GPA.  Priority consideration will be given to applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above;
  • must complete and submit verification of required observation hours with a licensed occupational therapist, ideally in diverse settings (check here for details)
  • must provide 2 letters of recommendation (one from a licensed occupational therapist and one from a professional and/or academic source);
  • must complete Occupational Therapy Application through OTCAS. Priority review will be given to applications submitted through OTCAS by Jan/Feb for a Fall Start on the Long Island campus; Priority review will be given to applications submitted to OTCAS by July/August for a Spring Start on the Manhattan campus;

QCC students who successfully complete the application and interview process and are found to be a good match for the OT program at Touro will receive a conditional acceptance.  Terms of the conditional acceptance are as follows:

  • must complete all outstanding coursework with a grade of C or better and submit proof of grades to OT admissions prior to the start of classes.
  • must submit deposit to reserve your seat in the class.

BSHS/MSOT Completion at Touro:

  • QCC students who utilize this pathway complete specified Touro OT prerequisites while earning an A.S. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Occupational Therapy.  Upon acceptance, they enter Touro University's dual degree BSHS/MS in Occupational Therapy via the minimum 60-credit entry, to earn their combined Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy in under three years. Students are then eligible to sit for the board examinations to obtain certification and licensure to practice. There is also a post-professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) completion option for practicing therapists, with distinct advantages for Touro BSHS/MS graduates.
  • With this Pathway Program, students can progress from QCC through Touro University's SHS BSHS/MS OT program, often in less than 5 years. Students also have the option to complete their doctoral degree in OT in just one additional year.

Additional Notes: All students must successfully complete two (2) writing-intensive classes (designated "WI") at Queensborough Community College to fulfill degree requirements.
