Credits: 1 credit per course

Pre-requisites (if any): CH-152 for CH-900 and CH-901. One credit is earned for each of two courses, each with a minimum of 45 hours experience. Open only to matriculated students who have completed CH-152 with a grade-point average of at least 2.5 in Chemistry courses and who have been recommended by the Chemistry Department. Students will be selected by the coordinator of the Cooperative Education program on the basis of their academic background and the availability of positions. Students should apply for this course in the semester preceding the one in which they plan to take it so that proper arrangements can be made. These courses can be used either as free electives in all curricula, or as part of the concentration in the A.S. in Liberal Arts and Science (Mathematics and Science ) degree program.

Course Description in college catalog:

These courses provide an opportunity for a student to learn modern instrumental techniques, and to gain practical experience working in a professional chemistry laboratory. Students will meet with the coordinator at least once a month to discuss their work. An evaluation will be submitted by the supervisor in the laboratory to which the student has been assigned. A final grade of Pass or Fail will be awarded by the Cooperative Education Coordinator.
