QCC-Campus Security Assistant (Hourly) - 500033-Multiple positions available

**GENERAL DUTIES**

In accordance with the policies of The City University of New York and individual colleges/units, and under supervision, incumbents perform duties supporting campus/location public safety and security.

Campus Security Assistants work closely with Campus Peace Officers. The major distinction between a Campus Peace Officer and a Campus Security Assistant is that Campus Security Assistants do not receive Peace Officer status.

Typical Post Duties

- Act as a First Responder to alarms and calls for service.

- Observe campus activities, reporting suspicious behavior and other incidents to Central Dispatch and/or a ranking officer within Public Safety.

- Enforce college rules and regulations as specified in Standard Operating Procedures.

- Check IDs and parking passes/decals (where applicable) of students, faculty, staff, and visitors, in accordance with the College's access policy.

- Answer department telephone lines, including emergency calls.

- Provide travel directions to college and to college campus buildings, offices, and services.

- Accept items to campus Lost and Found.

Typical Administrative Duties

- Maintain a personal record (memo book) of daily job activities and incidents, as they occur, in the manner determined by the Campus Public Safety Director.

- When assigned, carefully monitor the premises through the campus CCTV system.

- Perform assigned Fire Safety duties, including acting as a Fire Warden or Fire Guard during fire drills, emergencies, and other building evacuations.

- Act as central dispatcher, when assigned.

- When assigned, maintain post and tour logs, guaranteeing that logs are kept current and entries are up-to-date.

- Maintain radio contact with the Department's Central Dispatch.

The Public Safety Department at Queensborough Community College is looking for hourly Security Assistants to help ensure the safety and security of students, employees and visitors on QCC’s campus. These are part-time positions (up to 32.5 hours per week, contingent on the department’s needs and budget.)

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

Proof of meeting the minimum requirements is required prior to appointment.

1. A total of 1 year full-time work experience OR 1 year of U.S. Military service.

2. English Proficiency: candidates must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English Language well enough to meet the minimally acceptable performance standards set for job tasks.

3. United States Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

4. High School Diploma or GED.

5. Valid New York State Security Guard License.

6. Some campuses require the ability to drive a vehicle; for appointment to those schools, a Valid Driver's License (issued by a state or territory of the United States) is required.

Candidates must also meet physical, medical, and psychological requirements, including a screen for drug usage, and a background check, including fingerprint screening. They may be required to demonstrate physical readiness for performing job tasks. For candidates for full-time positions, a Civil Service examination and appointment from a Civil Service list are required to achieve "probable permanent" status.

**COMPENSATION**

New employee hiring rate: $15.30 *

Incumbent hiring rate: $ 15.51

*This amount reflects a salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only. After 24 months of employment as a CUNY Campus Security Assistant hourly, the incumbent 2 year rate is $16.29 per hour.

Assistant Director of International Admissions and Enrollment

**POSITION DETAILS**

Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Assistant Director of International Admissions and Enrollmentwill play a fundamental role in recruiting international students in the New York Metro Area and in assisting new international students with onboarding and course registration. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview responsibilities, the International Student Admissions Specialist will manage the following:

· Responsible for recruiting international students while providing guidance and support to applicants and families throughout the admissions and enrollment process.

· Review, evaluate international applications while considering international educational credentials, including academic records, grading systems and language proficiency test scores to determine US equivalency.

· Responsible for assisting new international students with onboarding, course registration, guidance related to F-1 Visa status, and other services to assist international students’ transition to their college experience at QCC.

· Represent Queensborough Community College at domestic and international recruitment events such as college fairs, school visits, conduct information sessions (virtually and in-person), and other events to promote QCC to prospective students and their families.

· Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and coordinate maintenance of SEVIS records for international students.

· Manage advisory case load of international students leveraging advising technologies such as CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft), Starfish, EAB, Degree Audit, CRM System, and other relevant platforms.

· May supervise staff members.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

· Comprehensive understanding of international student recruitment strategies and educational systems around the world.

· Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communications skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations and international partners.

· Ability to conduct small and large group workshops and presentations.

· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for recruitment purposes.

· Experience with academic advisement of international students and/or in a community college setting.

· Familiarity with CUNYFirst, DegreeWorks, Starfish, CRM systems or comparable student systems.

· Knowledge of SEVP regulations and ability to manage student SEVIS records.

· CUNY experience is preferred.
