The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM

  1. Approval of minutes from October, 21 2020 meeting and approval of agenda.
    1. Minutes approved without objections
    2. Agenda approved without objections
  2.  Evaluation of departmental year-end reports
    1. Professor Rome presented Art & Design
    2. Professor Orlofsky presented English
  3. Dean Corradetti discussed his meeting with the Chairs with respect to potential modifications to the template for year-end reports, as well as a general agreement that the Senate Committee could be of potential assistance to departmental assessment committees.
    1. All teaching department reports are posted on the website, except for Math & Computer Science. (Some non-teaching depts. are missing.)
    2. Dean Corradetti proposed that the assessment report should be separate from year-end report from dept. Chairs, based on a template or guidelines, written by departmental assessment committees.
    3. This Committee can assist the departmental committees, instead of dept. Chairs.
    4. Hoping to have a new template for the end of this school year.
  4. Because reports from this Committee are still going to full Senate only, and no further, and because these concerns have been raised for more than a decade, a suggestion was made to enhance the visibility of the Committee’s annual report by sending a copy to the Provost. The Committee approved a motion to consult the Senate Steering Committee in this regard.
  5. Motion to assign outstanding reports passed.
  6. List of departmental assessment committees/contacts approved by department Chairs is nearly complete.
  7. Next meeting moved from Dec 9 to Dec 16
  8. No other new business
  9. Meeting adjourned at 1:20PM

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin Kolack, Ph.D.
Committee on Committee on Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness, Secretary
