The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness met on February 16, 2022 at 12:10PM via secure online meeting


Committee Members in Attendance:

Thomas Byrnes (Admissions, 2023), Urszula Golebiewska (Biology, 2024), Chukwudi Ikwueze (Social Sciences, 2022), Kevin Kolack (Chemistry, 2022, Secretary), Manuel Martinez (English, 2022), Renee Rhodd (Transfer Resources Center, 2024), Barbara Rome (Nursing, 2023), Mark Ulrich (Business, 2024), Biao Wang (Math, 2023)

Absent: TBA (student representatives)


Liaisons in Attendance:

Arthur Corradetti (Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, President's Liaison), Ian Beckford also attended

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM

  1. Approval of agenda. Approved without objections.
  2. Approval of minutes from December 8th, 2021. Approved without objections.
  3. Scheduling for reviews of teaching department year-end reports. 15 have been posted. 6 members do 2, 3 members do 1. CI and BR will do 2 each at next meeting, UG and MM volunteered to do 2. KK will email out assignments ASAP. Aim for half at next meeting and the remainder at the following meeting.
  4. Letter to departmental chairs & meeting with departmental committees on assessment or faculty involved with assessment. Target departments not represented by committee members.
  5. Discussion on The Assessment Review, based on email forwarded to the committee by Dean Corradetti on December 23rd, 2021, and a possible contribution from QCC. https://assessatcuny.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ Committee agreed we had nothing to report, but could advertise site to the college through marketing. Co-chairs can decide how to proceed.
  6. Old business
    1. Update from the working group for the creation of a rubric for assessing program reviews. BR says almost done. Next meeting.
    2. Update on completion of presentation of non-teaching departments' assessment results.
      MM presented ASAP, College Discovery, and Counseling
  7. New business- none
