The meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm

On Thursday April 18th at 1 pm the Bylaws committee convened on a conference call.  The meeting was called to order once a quorum had been achieved.

There were three changes [amendment and one addition] to discuss and vote on.

1. The amendment concerning the “Agenda Order” was approved by the committee. The committee discussed the amendment. The amendment passed with one negative vote and five positive votes.

2. The amendment concerning the “Administration Support for the Operation of the Academic Senate” was tabled for more information. The committee would like clarification on what the Steering Committee means by “Resources.”

3. The amendment regarding a change to language governing the Publication committee was unanimously approved.

  • The explanation approved was only the first sentence as follows: “The membership in the Committee on Publications has simply three students as set in ARTICLE VII. Section 24. The Committee on Publications.”
  • The committee discussed and did not approve the other sections of the explanation, including the reference to the Committee on Publications governing the college website.
  • In the proposal there was a typo [noticed Article VII in the Re:].  Please note it is Article VII Section 4.4 and section 25 [not 24]

The committee also discussed inconsistencies in the bylaws published on the college website. Please note the web page displayed 2015 and not February 2016 Academic Senate bylaws.

No new business was discussed.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

William Ryan
Committee on Bylaws, Secretary
