The Academic Senate Committee on Bylaws met on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, 1:00 pm, H458


Committee Members in Attendance:

Franca Ferrari, Daniel Garbin, Urszula Golebiewska, Sebastian Murolo (Chair)

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm

Minutes:

  1. Welcome the new members: Daniel Garbin and Julia Rothenberg.
  2. Thank you to the departing members: Susan Jacobowitz and Richard Micieli; William Ryan whose term expires will stay on as the Steering Committee designee.
  3. Setting tentative meeting times for the Fall 2019 semester: The meetings will be held the following Wednesdays at 1pm, in Biology Conference Room on: September 25th 2019, October 23rd 2019, November 20th 2019, and if necessary, December 18th 2019.
  4. Elections of the chair. Sebastian Murolo expressed willingness to continue on as a chair, his nomination was unanimously approved. Sebastian Murolo was elected the chair of the committee.  
  5. Elections of the secretary. Urszula Golebiewska was elected the secretary of the committee.
  6. During the 2018/2019 Academic Year the committee was tasked with several emergency and phone meetings. To avoid such a hectic schedule Franca Ferrari proposed implementing a rule that the materials for consideration by the committee should be sent to the committee at least one week prior to the scheduled meeting dates. All present agreed. The chair -Sebastian Murolo will inform the Steering Committee of the Bylaws Committee request.
  7. Sebastian Murolo and Urszula Golebiewska will check whether all the bylaws changes approved by the committe and subsequently by the Academic Senate were appropriately posted online.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:27 p.m.
