The Academic Senate Committee on Bylaws met on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 1:07 PM, Medical Arts 209


Committee Members in Attendance:

Franca Ferrari, Daniel Garbin, Urszula Golebiewska (Secretary), Md Shahadat Hossain, Sebastian Murolo (Chair), Weier Ye

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:07 PM

  1. The attendance was taken 
  2.  The committee welcomed new member: Weier Ye
  3.  The Minutes of the October 23rd meeting were read and approved.
  4.  Consideration of the requested change in the Academic Senate Bylaws Article VII, section:7 number 2:

From:

Section 7 (Reports), 2.

  1. Each standing committee shall distribute to the members of the instructional staff an annual written report and a copy filed with the Secretary of the Academic Senate prior to the first Senate meeting in September. The Secretary shall inform the Academic Senate of the names of the Committees which have not filed such reports.

To:

Section 7 (Reports), 2.

  1. Each standing committee shall upload their annual written report and inform the Secretary of the Academic Senate Steering Committee and College archivist prior to the first Senate meeting in September. The Secretary shall inform the Academic Senate of the names of the Committees which have not uploaded such reports.

    A motion was made to approve the change, seconded, the vote was by show of hands. The change was approved.

  1. Discussion on request to split the Committee on Pre-College, Continuing Education and Workforce Development into two separate committees. The Bylaws Committee decided to table any action on this matter pending clarification of the proposed charges and the manner of creating the new committees.
  2. Old Business: The task of reviewing the Committee Guidelines will be undertaken by Weier Ye. Md. Shahadat Hossain reviewed the minutes from previous year and found that several approved changes were not updated on respective websites. Sebastian Murolo will contact David Moretti to request appropriate updates. 
  3. Next meeting date was changed to December 11, 2019.  

The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 PM
