Committee on Continuing Education and Workforce Development

Committee Guide Addendum

Continuing Education and Workforce Development Committee: The committee works closely with Dr. Hui-Yin Hsu, Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development and her office. Our committee meets twice a semester, often during club hours on Zoom. Presently, the committee is working on creating a clear pathway for students to take certificate “micro-credentials” offered through grants obtained by CEWD and businesses working closely with our college. Additionally, we are working on advocating for a clear and organized system created by department chairs so students may learn how to receive credit for prior learning. Our committee supports the work of CEWD and communicates these new opportunities to the Academic Senate.

The role of the Chair of the CEWD Committee is to work with Dean Hsu in setting an agenda and to organize committee meetings and activities. Additionally, the chair communicates the work of the committee to the Academic senate through reports and presentations to the senate.

The role of the Secretary of the CEWD Committee is to support the chair and the committee by taking minutes during the meetings and posting the minutes once they are approved to the committee website via a system called Cascade. Additionally, the secretary keeps the committee website updated so that members and future meetings are easily identifiable.
