Location: 3PM-4PM, RF Kennedy Hall, Conference Room 216

  • Scheduling future meetings and effects on Committee membership.
  • If Dee’s schedule cannot be made to accommodate Dolores’ availability we need to elect a new Secretary. Otherwise we need volunteer to take notes today.
  • Review Charges of the Committee “The Committee on Publications shall:
  1. Recommend to the Academic Senate policies and procedures pertaining to College publications including the college website.
  2. Receive information on the college website and all publications associated with the College or bearing the College name, and report this information to the Academic Senate.
  3. Serve as an advisory group for the college website and publications associated with the College.
  4. Serve as an editorial board for the Queensborough Community College Newsletter, Community Calendar, the Faculty Handbook and other handbooks, and other publications of this nature.”
  • Aviva’s Report from meeting with David Moretti and Stephen DiDio.
  1. David does not feel the award for best Webpages is helpful in improving the site.
  2. David would like to have some standardization of the content including: consistent areas of content, agreement about who the audience is (current students, prospective students, prospective employers, other institutions, faculty etc.), clear objectives (attract students, keep students, attract faculty, serve and inform faculty, staff and students, inform prospective employers and other institutions etc.)
  3. David would like to ensure the pages are updated regularly.
  4. David would like to be sure the catalog and the site are consistent. (This is required for accreditation. (Faculty also need to understand that the Syllabi are non negotiable. This is different than the course outline.)
  5. David would like to have a system to train faculty to train each other in being able to do the site updates because he spends so much time training people to work on the site.
  6. We would like to strengthen the connection between the marketing and faculty. For example, marketing can help publicize special events, clubs, student achievements, special courses etc etc. But they need faculty to communicate with them. Each department needs to share what their objectives are with marketing.
  7. Each faculty members should feel that the site is a crucial tool in keeping the college and their programs thriving.
  8. Underused aspects of site: Events Calendar and news@qcc.cuny.edu - address you can use to inform marketing of news in your program/department etc.
  9. David will share with us a list of all qcc publications. Supposedly this Committee is responsible to oversee all of them. Is this too much? Idea to publish the Communique and the creative writing magazine on the website.
  • New Business?
  • Next meeting day and time.
