Publications Committee For September-16-2022

Minutes

The Academic Senate Committee on Publications met on Friday, September 16, 2022, 12:30 PM-1:30 PM, via Zoom

Committee Members in Attendance:

Patrick Byers- Chair, Sushma Teegala - Secretary, James Gerary Geasor, Mathieu Sassolas, Roumen Vragov, Emily Diana - Student Government representative and Philip Pecorino.

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:36 pm

Meeting started at 12:03 pm. All the members of the committee introduced themselves.

Philip Pecorino is currently redoing/updating the faculty handbook and converting it online.

The handbook will eventually become a one-stop shop for faculty with links. Philip Pecorino is planning on serving out this last year. Then he will phase and will take on a half load. He will no longer be on any committees.

These are some of the changes that the committee is currently working on:

  • Handbook has a lot of links that are not working. Philip and James said that a program is running to check if the links are working or not.
  • Jim said in regards to the broken links: each department should be able to remove the broken links. Jim also suggested that we should have the video on how to access and remove them.
  • Since David Moretti left, we now have a new director and he will be invited to the meeting. The new director should be able to shed light on how to deal with dead links. However, some of them need to change manually.
  • Philip left the meeting at 12:39 pm.
  • Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
  • The committee agrees that the handbook should have a link that will include details like, what is needed for reappointment. The committee did note that the requirements might be different for each department and it is difficult to quantify this information.
  • The committee noted that departments need to decide what is needed for the tenure/reappointment and will be requested to update. We can only publish what the department gives to us.
  • Some areas like “don't be a jerk” should be edited out from the handbook
  • The committee also noted that the website must be ADA compliant.

Motion to end the meeting was called by Patrick and Mattheu seconded it. Meeting ended at 1 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Sushma Teegala
