The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activities met on Feb 27, 2024 at 9:00AM (Virtual)


Committee Members in Attendance:

In Attendance:  Wilfredo Moran, Ilse Schrynemakers, Kwang Hyun Kim, Alison Mello, Jacqueline Mulone, Sybil White, Gisela Rivera, Jennifer Klein


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 9:11 AM

1.) Called Meeting to Order: 9:11 AM (Virtual Meeting)

2.) Approval of Meeting Minutes from December 15, 2023

 

3.) Plans for Spring 2024 Volunteer Fair

  • Date revised to Club Hours 4/10/24 to avoid potential conflict with another large campus event.
  • Chairperson Schrynemakers provided members with a list of contacts and script to invite organizations. Deadline for organizations to complete registration form is 3/27/24 to allow time to coordinate campus access and parking.
  • Members supported inviting on-campus services as was done the previous year.
  • Members discussed tentative rain locations and space limitations should the event need to be held indoors or moved due to construction.
  • Members discussed revisions to event flyer and promotion.
    • Members supported printing flyers and adding fair to campus events calendar.
    • It was suggested that faculty be asked to share information with their students.
    • Flyer will be finalized at next committee meeting after location and possible sponsorship is confirmed.

4.) Updates to Student Survey

  • Members discussed deployment of student survey aimed at gathering data about student involvement in campus events and communications about events.
  • Chairpersons will reach out to Institutional Research and Assessment to discuss deployment and data collection.

5.) Updates from Student Activities

  • Gisela Rivera shared information about Presence (student engagement platform). The system is active and being used by many clubs. It also offers a mechanism to track student participation in activities.

  • Chairperson Moran asked that members continuing next year consider running for committee officers.
