The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activities met on April 10, 2019 at 4 pm in L413


Committee Members in Attendance:

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 4:06

  1. Approval of the minutes of the April 10, 2019 by voice vote.
  2. Approval of the agenda for May 8, 2019 by voice vote.

Old Business

 

1. Report from Student Government:  Ronald Chan (President of SGA)

  • Discussed the QCC App.
  • Had a good discussion about how we can help SGA

2. Review of Student Survey Data-presented by Victor Fichera:

  • Mr. Fichera shared results from the fall 2016 and spring 2017. 
  • There were 465 responses to the survey. 
  • We would like to use this survey to determine student awareness and involvement. 
  • Survey results were widely represented in particular areas of interest. 
  • About 2/3 of student population does not know about student activities programming. 
  • It was discussed that many things have changed since 2016/2017. 
  • Marketing has been improved and students are more aware of activities. 
  • Discuss adding an 8th question to the survey about QCC App.

3. Steering Committee-Bylaws for Committee:

  • Report to Academic Senate about Policies.
  • Assist the Director as needed.
  • Act as an advisory group to club that needs.
  • List all publications on website

4. Report from Dean Pullin:

  • Academic Academies can help Market events on campus.
  • Each Academy does 6-8 events per semester, looking for them to have 3 big events instead.
  • Academy event planning is still in discussion stage.
  • Possibly Student Activities Committee can collaborate with Student Government and Academic Academies

 

5. Student Activities update:  None
