Agenda Discussion Topics:

1. Introduction of Co-Chairs and Welcome New Members

  • Wilfredo Moran and Ilse Schrynemakers introduced themselves as co-chairs.
  • Weier Ye was welcomed as a new member.
  • A Doodle poll will be sent out to coordinate a time for future committee meetings.

2. Fall 2022 Volunteer Fair Discussion

  • Discussion of the tentative dates, location, and modality options.
    • Members suggested that a date in October or November date may work best as there is time needed to secure participation from organizations and process campus access requests.
    • Members noted that outside of the Science Building was a good location in the Spring and that the Science Building Lobby may be a good location in colder weather.
  • After discussion, the Fall 2022 Volunteer Fair is tentatively planned for November 9, 2022 during Club Hours (12-2pm). Gisela offered to assist with reserving a location (possibly Science Building or other location).
  • Co-chairs will divide the list of volunteer organizations on file and supply an invitation template. Members are asked to please reach out to their assigned organizations and add any new organizations that feel may be a good fit.

 3. New Business

  • Discussion about additional committee goals and responsibilities for the upcoming year.
    • Increase Student Involvement in Committee
      • Co-chairs will reach out to Student Government officers to make them aware of the committee and assistance that can be provided. Gisela suggested touching base with officers at the weekly Student Government Meetings or a smaller meeting with the Student Government President (Kezia Prince).
    • Student Attendance at Events and Student Knowledge of Events
      • Members discussed ways to track student attendance and gather data about how students learn of events. Jennifer Klein shared that the committee previously deployed a survey to students (over the course of one year). Members suggested that students could access surveys at events using QR codes which has been a successful strategy at other campus events.
    • Officers will reach out to Web Services for Cascade access and to update committee site.

4. New Business: None

Meeting adjourned at 11:43 AM

Respectfully submitted,
