The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activities met on October 24, 2022 at 6:30 pm (remote)


Committee Members in Attendance:

Wilfredo Moran, Alison Mello, Carolyn King, Kwang Hyun Kim, Weier Ye


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 6:37 PM

Chairperson Wilfredo Moran called the Zoom meeting to order at 6:37PM. 

Approval of Minutes:

  • Minutes approved from 09/09/2022 Meeting

Agenda Discussion Topics:

1.  Fall 2022 Volunteer Fair Discussion

  • Discussion of the final location, set up, and logistics.
    • Volunteer Fair will be held on 11/9/2022 during Club Hours (12-2pm) in the Student Union Lounge. It will be a fully in-person event.
    • Several organizations have registered to attend the fair, and Chairpersons assisted organizations in getting campus access requests approved.
  • Members discussed how to keep track of student attendance (sign in sheet, QR code, etc). Alison offered to set up a Google Form and QR code for students to scan at tables during the fair. Members discussed additional student information to collect on the form (name, email, how they learned about the fair).
  • Members discussed how to best support organizations at fair, including assisting in set up and reserving parking through Public Safety.
  • Members were asked to distribute information about the fair to their departments and to students in their courses.

 2. New Business

  • Discussion of ideas for Spring 2023 events.
    • Members generally supported having another “Meet Your Professors” event. This event was held virtually last year and members in attendance spoke of its success.
  • Chairperson Moran discussed reaching out to student government representatives to make them more aware of the committee and encourage participation.
