Stop & Shop Funds Queensborough Community College In-School Food Pantry to Meet Needs of Food Insecure Queensborough Students, Families
08/02/2023 - Queensborough Community College and Stop & Shop held a check donation ceremony that will fund the school’s ‘Lucille A. Bova Food Pantry’ for the upcoming school year. The pantry, which will serve over 2,200 Queensborough Community College students and their families, is being supported by a $7,500 donation from Stop & Shop that will enable the College to purchase the specific food items and other essential products that the students and their families need.

Queensborough Selected For Heckscher Foundation Workforce Development Grant
07/19/2023 - Queensborough Community College is among 20 organizations in New York State and one of two City University of New York (CUNY) colleges to receive a part of a $7.6 Million grant from the Heckscher Foundation for Children to support workforce development. The Heckscher Foundation’s grant will support Queensborough’s existing partnerships with employers to create career pathways for our students in the College’s Computer Engineering Technology program. The nearly $400,000 the College receives will support our work to align our curriculum with employer needs to ensure full-time employment for our students. Queensborough is excited to be among the inaugural grantees and looks forward to additional resources to support our commitment to providing our students with the best programs and services.

Queensborough Community College Appoints Dr. Phyllis Curtis-Tweed Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
06/26/2023 - Queensborough Community College President Dr. Christine Mangino announced the appointment of Dr. Phyllis Curtis-Tweed as Provost and Vice President of the Office of Academic Affairs. She takes over the role from Dr. Sandra Palmer who is retiring this summer after serving as both Dean of Faculty, a role she has held since 2015, and Interim Provost and Vice President. Dr Curtis-Tweed, currently Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Bermuda College, will join Queensborough on August 1.

Nearly 600 guests convened for the event including corporate, community and business leaders, alumni, faculty, staff, students, retirees, friends and legislators.

01/25/2023 - Robin Hood Foundation, New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization in New York City, has awarded Queensborough Community College (CUNY) a nearly half million-dollar grant to support the development of the Queensborough Male Resource Center (QMRC), an initiative dedicated to increasing the retention and graduation rates of male students, with a particular focus on self-identified Black and Latino males who are disproportionately impacted by equity gaps in student outcomes.
