2020 Northeast Regional Conference for the ACDA

Faculty members Emily Berry, Nicole McClam, Kevin McEwen and Aviva Geismar accompanied 9 students from the Dance Program to the Northeast Regional Conference for the American College Dance Association last week in Potsdam, NY. Sophomores Victoria Edwards and Jalisa Wallerson performed Victoria’s dance, "Burden", on an adjudicated concert, and the piece was selected for performance in the conference gala at the culmination of the conference - a significant honor for Victoria and Jalisa. Faculty member Kevin McEwen brought his work, "Sabar Rek," created in collaboration with guest artist Bakari Fall, to the adjudicated concert as well. The piece was beautifully performed by Chyna Bennett, Sany’aa Browne, Victoria Edwards, Hallie Langaigne, Helen Maldonado and Nadia Simmons. Malisha St. John gave a moving performance of her solo work, "Clipped", on the informal concert. We were delighted that dance major Lisa Ramlall was also able to attend the conference. The students took advantage of the many activities at the conference including participating in multiple dance classes, attending performances, panel discussions and feedback sessions and interacting with faculty and students from many colleges in our region. Thank you also to rehearsal director, Crystal Craigen, and musicians Bakari Fall and El Haji Faye. Please join me in congratulating these students on their success.
