Course Description in college catalog:
Dance Workshop II is a continuation of Dance Workshop I. Exploration of dance as a performing art through participation. Class work includes improvisation, elements of dance composition, learning of performing skills, repertory, and critical analysis. Students gain awareness and practical experience in all crafts related to dance production. Assignments include selected texts, attendance at dance performances, participation in studio and other scheduled performances.

- Students learn the self-discipline and rigor of consistent and punctual attendance requirements. They learn how their attendance affects the group and the consequences of not being punctual or regular prepared attendance.
- Students will learn specific dance pieces and roles that they will be required to perform with accuracy and expressivity through the elements of time, space, and energy.
- Students will perform the technique with the aesthetic quality for specific choreography.
- Students will practice proper rehearsal etiquette in the studio and during rehearsals.
- Students will experience the production aspects of a dance performance through an extensive week in the theater with technical and lighting rehearsals as well as a dress rehearsal.
Identify and apply the following concepts of dance: space, weight, time, dynamics/energy through writing, movement, performance, or choreography.
Apply fundamental movement skills and knowledge of the body and of kinesiology.
Demonstrate the development of an individual movement voice and application of creative process tools.
Demonstrate the following rehearsal/performance skills: proactive preparedness, punctuality, self rehearsal, self reflection, awareness of your role and role of others in production, effective communication, and perform dance roles with accuracy and expressivity.
Develop and support critical response through writing and/or speech.
