Course Description in college catalog:

This course will introduce students to all of the fundamental skills of basketball: footwork, passing, shooting, rebounding, dribbling, defense and boxing out. The course will include executing some basic strategies such as give and go, screen and roll, and backdoor cuts. It will cover the rules of the game with a chance to officiate and keep a scorebook. The course will offer opportunities for competitive games with an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship.

  2. Students will be able to differentiate between different basketball skills

  3. Students will be able to explain the importance of each skill to become a balanced player

  4. Students will be able to execute the basics of basketball and identify what skill needs improvement

  5. Students will be able to work on and demonstrate each skill in small groups

  6. Students will be able to identify the difference between various individual and team skills and when to use them
