Course Description in college catalog:

This course is designed to help men and women to improve muscular strength and cardiovascular efficiency through the application of scientific methods of weight training. The main emphasis of the classwork will focus on practical exercise and progressive weight training, and students will have a better understanding of their bodies.

  1. Students will be able learn safety protocols in a weight room/fitness area

  2. Students will learn and be able to identify the major muscles

  3. Students will be able to create a work out plan that is individualized for themselves

  4. Students will be able to set obtainable fitness goals

  5. Students will learn proper technique for weight training activities

  6. Students will identify have external variables such as diet, sleep, and health will effect their fitness goals

  7. Students will be able to use the knowledge from weight training to apply toward lifetime fitness goals

  1. Participation and Performance
