Course Description in college catalog:
This course is part of a sequence that will introduce the student to the personal training profession and an overview of the skills and models commonly utilized by members of the profession. It will provide a strong foundation to sit for various Personal Training Certification exams. The course will cover anatomy, physiology and biomechanics as it relates to personal training. In addition, Nutrition, body composition, weight control and assessment will be covered.

Students will be able to demonstrate competence in biomechanics analysis, nutritional analysis, body composition analysis, physiological assessment, health risk appraisal, aerobic and anaerobic evaluation
Students will be able to demonstrate skills in personal training techniques such as resistance training, stretching techniques, and weight training
Students will be able to interview professional client and communicate relevant information to client
Students will be able to create an individualized personal training plan based on clients’ needs for diverse populations
Students will be able to discuss the personal training profession and develop the skills commonly utilized by members of the profession.
Students will be able to develop knowledge and skills needed to purse a Personal Training Certification.
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics as well as nutrition, body composition, weight control and fitness assessment.
Students will be able to employ concepts, principles and rules in personal training including professionalism and safety procedures.
